Girls Night- Sister Style

Last night I had my sisters over for some fun. We decorated sugar cookies, ordered pizza, and watched Morning Glory. It was my first time baking and decorating sugar cookies. They were a bit messier that I thought they would be, and I think I over baked them a tad. For the cookie and royal icing recipe click here and here . I don't think the movie was such a hit--Alisa and Kelee fell asleep for most of it! But all in all we had fun, and took lots of pictures!

Alisa, Kelee, and Ximena with her "tooth" cookie. I thought it was pretty creative!

Flowers, bunnies, and butterflies

I apologize for the quality of the photo, but this was the most creative of the night...can you tell what it is? A guy wearing a sombrero. I love it!

And she was the creator of the sombrero cookie.

Gotta throw a crazy one in there.

Home Sweet Home

If any of you didn't know our home for the past three years has been at Watchman Self Storage.

No...we don't live inside a storage unit silly. We manage the property and live on-site in an apartment. We have it pretty good. In fact, I don't think I ever realized just how good we have it until recently. The apartment is a huge three bedroom apartment. We live rent and utilities free, and on top of that get paid a salary for working in the office.

Well that whole deal may be coming to an end soon....without too many details the place has been taken over by the bank and will be sold at auction. So who ever buys it is not guaranteed to keep us on, plus for the next few weeks until the auction date we are not guaranteed to get paid, so do we stay on and hope that whomever buys the place will compensate us back for the three weeks we worked?? Working ten hours a day for free doesn't sound so appealing to me. It's kind of a mess the way the whole thing has worked out and I feel really bad for our old boss. He lost everything he owned, but I don't wanna sink in this ship with him. Dan and I are trying to stay patient and just see what happens. We are so blessed that Dan got his new promotion when he did otherwise I would be a lot more concerned.

I can't say I would be very sad to leave the actual job part behind. It was easy, but almost too easy, and the office hours made it very hard to get through school. I would not miss tenants knocking on our door at midnight wanting to get something out of their storage unit. Nor would I miss the construction going on in our front yard at all hours of the day and night. If I ever have to hear the sound of a jackhammer outside my window while I am trying to fall asleep again I might kill myself.

At the same time there are things I would miss... the paycheck, the free rent and free utilities, and the apartment. As I have been looking at various apartments on KSL I have realized you cannot get the same amount of space we are used to without paying an arm and a leg! And it's even harder to find a nice place that allows pets! In fact we went and looked at a few places yesterday just to see what is out there, and I was mortified at the condition some houses are in, and yet they still ask so much for them! I wish I could just pick the whole house up and take it with me!

So, we have been considering buying a place of our own. Of course this idea is very tempting and exciting. But are we ready? I am not ready to be house broke. There is so much to consider when buying a home! Realistically, we had been planning on starting the whole house hunting thing around August of this year. I know it's only five months away, but those five months gave us so much more savings to put towards our down payment and the time to be completely debt free. So do we rent for five months, or just put a little less down? Decisions, decisions....

Here are some pics of our home sweet home for the time being.

There is also one more bedroom and a laundry room...but the bedroom is our junk room, and the laundry room is full of dirty clothes so there is no way you get to see those!

7 1/2 Weeks

Ahh!!!

I'm so excited, I'm nearly fainting at this very moment.

I have been itching for a vacation for months now, and after we filed our taxes we finally had enough extra cash to plan something. We are going on a get-a-way to Puerto Vallarta! We will be staying 6 nights at an all inclusive beach front resort. We leave April 24th, and come back April 30th.

So what does this mean??? I have 7 1/2 weeks to get my body in swim-suit shape. I am super motivated though, and Dan and I are going to look and feel great.

I cannot wait to spend my days on the beach with my hubby. I have been looking at all the fun things there are to do and see in Puerto Vallarta, and I have so many plans for us! I have a feeling these next 7 1/2 weeks are going to go by very slowly.

I think I'll make a chain to countdown the days...
