Christmas 2011

Yes, Christmas is long gone, and I have been a slacker when it comes to blogging, but I figured I better blog about Christmas sooner or later, since it was so great this year...

Christmas started out very early at our house.  The earliest ever, actually.  I woke up at 5:30 to go to the bathroom, but was so excited I couldn't go back to sleep, so I woke Dan up (who was just as excited as I was).  Dan made Christmas extra special for me this year.  He prepared a scavenger hunt and along the way there was a gift attached with each clue.  To start things off he left me a poem.  I want to share it here so I can remember it in the future:

"Christmas day has come at last
Santa stopped by, but not so fast...
I noticed that your presents are only a few,
That's because the Jolly Old Elf wanted to play a game with you.

Santa knows you are always up for a game,
So he hid your presents, so this year wouldn't be lame.
They are scattered around the house, with clues to their spot,
Hopefully you can find them, you only get one shot.

Santa left me a note, I think it's a clue,
Give me a hug and a kiss and I'll give it to you."

Then he gave me the first of eight clues.  I had a lot of fun searching around the house for the next clue.  He had me searching on ceiling fans (that one took me a while to find), pantries, bathrooms, mailboxes, and more.  He was so creative with his clues!  I did a scavenger hunt for him a few years ago, but his was much more creative than mine!  After the scavenger hunt was over, Dan opened his gifts, and I opened the rest of mine (you know the ones I picked out for myself, but still wrapped and put under the tree).  I was sure spoiled this year.  Don't get me wrong, I love all my presents, but what I loved the most was how thoughtful Dan was with his clues and just the fact that he put in all the effort to do something creative and special for me.  I got a new winter coat, snowboarding gloves, new shoes, sandals, yummy body lotion, body wash and perfume, a gift card, and black skinny jeans. Dan got new golf shoes, an xbox 360 game, a couple new shirts, some cologne, and a Tempurepedic pillow.  We gave ourselves a new camera-Canon Powershot S95 and a tripod and camera cleaning kit.

After we opened our gifts it was still pitch black outside so we crawled back in bed and slept through our alarms until about 10:45!  It was so nice to sleep, and sleep so more!

We then made our way down to Payson where we stopped by my sister Kelee's house to drop off her gift and say hi.  After visiting with her, we spent the rest of the day with Dan's family.

We ate our traditional Christmas meal-Yaki Niku.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing and doing whatever we felt like--we took a nap, put together a puzzle, watched TV, ate way to much sugar, and played a fun game--LOGO, a present I got from Lorin and Sue.  I also got an Olive Garden gift card, and cute shirt and necklace which Dan's sister Cheyenne picked out for me.  Bridgette gave us a cute magnet note board. Dan got some top notch hunting waders and leather gloves.    I am so blessed with some many things in my life.  For one, I am blessed with a great husband and family. The Jensen's are so much fun to spend the holidays with.
